iPhone Application Review: Pocket Oinko

Pocket Oinko is a virtual pet application for the iPhone. Oinko is a little animated pig who needs to be taken care of, being directed to sleep, bathe, and go to the bathroom. If Oinko is not ready to do one of these things he will shake his head no and the user can purchase some food for him to eat or flowers for him to car for. All the time “spent” with Oinko earns the iPhone user money to make these purchases. For making Oinko happy, the player is awarded “Mood Bonuses.” This application also offers two Oinko games. One is a gardening box game where Oinko competes with Swineko to see which pig can garden more squares. The second game is “Bop Oinko” for which the player needs to use a squeaky mallet to try and bop Oinko on the head. But the player needs to be careful not to mistake Swineko for Oinko during the game.

Pros of this iPhone application:

Cons of this iPhone application:

- Oinko only comes with one scene in which he can be a part. The game will not allow the user to put Oinko in any other situation than his bedroom.

Overall:

This iPhone application is a fun game with great graphics. It is easy enough to occupy younger children and fun for older children as well. Overall, this application is a four out of five.
